Encouraging Young People to Participate in Community Life
Responsibility, not just invitation, keeps young people involved.
Young people are more likely to stay involved in community life when they are trusted with real responsibility — helping to plan an activity, leading a small group or suggesting new ideas.
Good youth participation starts with listening. What interests them? When are they available? What makes them feel welcome or unwelcome?
It also requires care. Any organisation working with minors must have proper safeguarding, consent and supervision arrangements in place before activities begin.
When these foundations are in place, young people often bring energy and fresh perspectives that benefit the whole community.
